Born in 1957 in Antwerp, Belgium, Karel VEREYCKEN graduated from the Institut Saint-Luc in Brussels and trained in engraving at the Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts, where he obtained a certificate of passage « with distinction. ». Today, in France, he concentrates on writing about art history, producing audio guides and of course watercolors and engravings. In France, as a member of the Fédération nationale de l’estampe, he confirmed his technical mastery at Atelier63 and continued to perfect his skills in the Montreuil workshop of Danish engraver Bo Halbirk. RECENT HONORS, PRIZES & AWARDS 2025 • TALENT PRIZE AWARD for the “13th Open” International Juried Art Competition of Teravarna; • MODERN RENAISSANCE MAGAZINE, two page article with 5 etchings and watercolors; • 100 ARTISTS OF EUROPE selected to be included in the 2026 edition of this book; • TOP IN CATEGORY AWARD for Printmaking by the Circle Foundation for the Arts (CFA); • TALENT PRIZE AWARD for the “8th Animal” International Juried Art Competition of Teravarna; • HONORABLE MENTION AWARD for the “8th Water” Art Contest organized by the Art Show International Gallery, currently known as Teravarna; • COLLECTORS ART PRIZE | ART LEGENDS OF OUR TIME, a prize awarded by the Contemporary Art Curator Magazine every two years “through a careful international selection process led by respected curators, museum directors, and critics.” The price is given “only to a small number of truly exceptional artists” whose work is “more than just beautiful — it speaks to the heart and mind, and stands the test of time … Your art has made a strong impact, and it deserves to be recognized as part of the living history of art”, the jury declared.
