This painting grew out of a project I participated in the Pyrenees, where we have had workshops on myth and the rewriting of personal narratives. During one session, our mentor told the story of Sisyphus. The moment I heard it, the image appeared formed in my mind and I could not wait to get home and paint it.nnThe stone functions as both obstacle and mirror: it divides the canvas while reflecting the same human figure on either side. On the right side is the figure in struggle, still learning how to carry or move beyond what weighs on her. On the other is the rider who has reached the summit, embodying wisdom, skill and perspective. Patterns, geometry, and the bold red sun translate emotional tension into visual rhythm.nnThe painting asks does the liberation comes from removing the burden or from transforming how we engage with it.
